Dulux Denim Drift - Moody Blues Mood board

Dulux colour of the year – Denim Drift

Our Denim Drift Moody Blues mood board

Using the colour of  the year from Dulux – Denim Drift for inspiration, our latest moodboard is for colour trend lovers that are not totally swept away by this years passion for all-things-green.

Although this moody grey/blue can work well in a contemporary style – for this moodboard we have given it a cosy country meets mid-century-modern look, with painted furniture, natural stone and handcrafted ceramics.

Rose and Grey rocking chair

Since I have discovered this Mid-century-modern range by Rose and Grey – I really have fallen in love with their rocking chairs.  I ordered several samples of Denim blues and greys  for the moodboard and eventually decided to feature Dark Denim – a deep grey/blue. They also have matching sofas and coffee tables in this range if you do decide to go for a full on Mid-century-modern style.

Florence settee by Love-your-home

This sofa is a relaxed style from Love-your-home.  It comes in several sizes, fabrics and colours and from the samples they sent I chose a Linen fabric in Cerulean Blue as it was such a great match.  The addition of the brass casters on this sofa give it that period look – but Love-your-home also have several modern sofa designs that can be covered in a wide range of Linens and Velvets, so you can chose a design to make the style that you are looking for.

Book case by Angel and Boho
Angel and Boho paint chart

A natural wood furniture would work well with the Moody Blues colour pallet  – but once I had found this range of painted furniture from Angel and Boho – it had such a great selection of paint shades to choose from, that I felt it was ideal for creating the tone on tone look that Dulux were all about this year. There were several shades that I found would harmonise quite beautifully on the board and decided on Graysilk as a lighter tone to contrast.

Ali Tomlin ceramic vase

These handcrafted ceramics are by Ali Tomlin a designer/maker that I met at The British Craft Fair last year. Her porcelain forms are thrown, unglazed and sanded to give them a delicate paper-like quality. As they are all made by hand – each piece will be slightly different and make a unique sculptural feature.  The colours she has chosen for her hand painted finish – work perfectly with the Moody Blues pallet.
